Deadwater Lagoon
My Process
My goal for this scene was to create a stylized Prison Lagoon from the reference image created by Vitaly Kirpichnikov. After greyboxing this scene, I felt like I needed more for it to become a 3d environment and not just a 2d image. So, I placed foliage around the scene and added other prison cages in the background to give the environment more depth. I wanted this scene to have two different effects on people. First giving off the feeling of being somewhat peaceful and relaxing watching the fireflies flutter around a swampy stone wall. Then I wanted people to recognize the skeleton in the cage and imagine that the background story for this scene was that this was not a place of peace, but that it was used for torture by the environment itself.
